Like for most of us, end of year was a bit hectic, spent rushing about doing Christmas shopping and seeing friends and family so I didn't get a chance to read the many 'Best Of 2018...' lists that popped up. So it was a pretty nice surprise when I clicked on a link a couple of days back, to read The Guardian's 'Critics Pick' and found my latest album, Oracles, included alongside some other great releases! 💚✨ Yay!! Nice New Year's vibe.

I am so so pleased to announce that the video for #SkeletonSong - song 2 of #Oracles is now premiering over at Clash Magazine >> Read / Watch HERE

Though we filmed the piece over a sunny-cloudy weekend in N. Sjælland, Denmark back in May of this year, it's been a long-gestating vision and I couldn't have imagined a better group of dedicated and brilliant people to help realise the idea of a dance film to accompany this song. Kate Church (dancer/director) plays the role of 'Skeleton Woman' who is fished out of the sea and slowly begins to stir back to life, starts to awaken from her numb and deathly state and to feel the blood run through her veins and her heart beat once more. At the time of writing, this story was an expression of my own crawling out of the darkness and sadness of grief and Kate translates the emotional intent of the song through her gestures and expression in a way that feels so true to the place from which I wrote (and sang) the song. The painstakingly created costume by Alice Williamson (who also co-directed) - heart and ribs included - and camera work from talented DoP Norwegian Mats Willand also makes me very happy indeed!

I do hope you enjoy the film 💕🎈🎉 Stills top and bottom also created by Alice.

I'm beyond happy to announce that Oracles, my BASCA-nominated choral song-cycle has been signed by future analogue label Gearbox Records and will be released as both vinyl, CD and digital download. I'm so pleased to join the shining and brilliant roster on this label, and I can't wait to share the recording with you, which features many special talents including pianist Bill Laurance (Snarky Puppy), double-bassist Jasper Høiby (Phronesis), percussionists Jacob Smedegaard & Naomi Morris, violinist Simmy Singh, cellist Anne Chauveau-Dhayan and last but not least an 8-piece choir directed by composer/singer Josephine Stephenson. The launch will take place at the newly refurb-ed and reopened Purcell Room Southbank Centre on Wednesday 4th July and there will be advance copies of the album available at the show. I'd love to celebrate with all of you - it's going to be a very special show with some amazing musicians!
